Becoming a Davenport, IA Photographer

Photography

As a guy looking to find what his passion truly is, I had to reflect on what I enjoyed doing in my life. I found that I enjoyed the beauty of my city and it wasn’t too much of a jump to pick up a camera and become a Davenport photographer. I joined the ranks of other photographers in the Quad Cities area and even though I knew it would be tricky to stand out, I pressed on.

Being a Davenport Photographer

What does it mean to be a Davenport photographer? To me, it entails the finding of unique photographs that can be shared with the local community. I started sharing my pictures to close friends and family and found they really enjoyed what they saw. I didn’t stop there though and was able to share it to a local coffee shop as well. The most Davenport photos in my collection though are directly related to the river or the old buildings in the area. People are normally surprised by the number of abandoned sites there are in the Quad Cities area. I found multiple places in Davenport to photograph that was left to gather dust and decay.

Why I Love Becoming a Davenport Photographer

I found my passion the moment I saw the eyes of the person I was sharing a photo with light up. There’s something special about making an impact on another human being from a simple picture. The thing that made these moments even more special was that they recognized the places I had photographed whether it be the I-74 bridge or a downtown building during a sunset. These photographs that I showed caused the other person to look at the buildings and environment they had become used to, in a new light. Now, whenever they pass the I-74 bridge, they won’t just think of traffic or something negative, but they can appreciate the beauty that was shown to them.

My life has improved drastically with the incorporation of my camera and my growing photography skills. I am always looking for a new challenge and journey which is why I have taken a stronger approach to freelance photography. I want to give people an even more personal touch to their photos while keeping a local feel to it.
